One of my most complicated emotional relationships in gaming is between Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel, Super Mario Galaxy 2.

It's complicated in the sense that it's obvious to me that the sequel is the better game, with its more confident level design and broader palette of powerups. It's not just more Mario Galaxy — it's better Mario Galaxy.

And yet, the original Mario Galaxy is the one that will forever be in my Mount Rushmore of Nintendo games. The sequel is the sequel; only the original is the original.

This applies perfectly here as well.
